Keeping in line with the prevalent architectural style of the old Irene Walled Estate in Pretoria, South Africa, the new house was designed in a Farmhouse and old Irene style to ensure it fits into its surroundings. The client also specifically requested we adhere to the style and character to match their style preference.
Special Care was taken to ensure that the antiquated design style had no negative impact on the luxury and “open living” arrangement and layout of the home, while careful spatial decisions and choice of materials allowed for a homely yet modern living space. Living areas are finished in solid bamboo flooring enhancing the luxury and warmth of space.
Natural store harvested from the site was used for all stone masonry work as accents, plinths and retaining and boundary walls, ensuring a true Irene Farm style was achieved.

The verandah style carports mimic the wrap-around roof concept and forms the back wall of the inner courtyard and herb garden. It is here where the dog kennel with underfloor heating is placed in close proximity of the kitchen yard and access door.
