Cape Town architect Beverley Hui designed this beach house to maximize the views over strand beach while minimizing western sun through the large pane sliding doors. The client wanted a lock up and go holiday villa that was comfortable and luxurious but with low maintenance finishes. The dark charcoal window frames are used to outline important features while the white beams bounce forward visually and provide shade to the apertures.
Vertical and horizontal elements are held in perfect balance. The timber front door contrasts with the charcoal frames used on the rest of the house.
