Westcliff House , JHB

The house, one of the original farmhouses of the area, has undergone various renovations over the years but was very much in need of an overhaul to suit my client’s living style and aesthetics. Fortunately, my vision for the project was a perfect fit!

In an extensive interior renovation, we stripped and updated almost all the finishes and fixtures throughout the home. This was a dark house when we began the process and by removing a few walls, lifting ceiling heights and painting the internal walls white, we succeeded in opening it up to sunlight and changed the ambiance completely.

One of the first things that needed to happen was to draw in as much natural light as possible. We sanded off layers of textured wall coverings and opened up a brand new white canvas to work off. We demolished a bulky archway that protruded into the living area, transforming the once dark and claustrophobic space.

The supporting I-Beam installed has been left raw.All light fittings were replaced with minimally designed energy efficient fittings. Precious parquet floors were restored throughout. Furnishings are minimal and effective as each pice was made or chosen carefully for the clients.

Kitchen cupboards and BIC’s throughout were sprayed white so as to slot neatly into our new palette. Steel handles powder coated white worked perfectly against the all-white cabinetry. We also powder coated all bathroom accessories in guest bathrooms white so as to make everything look as seamless as possible.

All bathrooms were gutted and refurbished, organic textures cover the floors. A combination of Garapa decking and natural quartz floors add texture to sleek lines of long ceramic tiles and the bare minimum fixtures. The main bathroom is a real sanctuary for anyone who loves cleanliness and nature! Lightly framed black French doors open onto courtyards on either side of the space. One holds a bathtub under the stars and another an outdoor shower.I really loved this project.
