    Highlands Farm—Hermanus

A new home for a couple retiring from the city to the country.

The owner and I chose to keep the basic shell of the house neutral. We focused on neutral shades of grey and left the custom made ceiling beams to be the focal point of the interior.

We left the fijnbos to help us in choosing our interior colors and settled on warm green and grey tones with light accents of acid yellows.

My client has a wonderful art collection and that injection of color throughout the home also brought an added layer of textures and colors to the walls.

We used a wonderful floor product with a base of cork. It comes in very basic color options, but it is a worthwhile product to consider.

It offers incredible sound and warmth insulation and easy under foot.

We used it as a subtle contrast to the light plastered walls and kept the dining room furniture layout very sparse.

My clients have a passion for cooking and entertaining their friends and family.

We created an informal sitting area in one of the passages and named it the 'Long Room' due to the 20 Seat table we found and positioned.

We used a beautiful Quartz Stone flooring in silver / grey tones that compliment the ceiling beams and keep a cool and uncluttered feeling in this room.
