The studio focuses on unique creations combining many traditional and contemporary metal crafts. While the emphasis is on hot-worked iron and steel, sheet and non-ferrous metals, textiles, wood, glass, stone, concrete and ceramics are often used to complement a project.
The studio schedule is primarily devoted to the design and creation of original interior and architectural art metal on commission. Other projects include restoration or reproduction of historic metal work, sculpture in steel and bronze and, occasionally, the creation of jewelry. Located and designed to be a creative space for metal design and artistic blacksmithing, the studio is a versatile workshop for creative metal projects.
The large windows afford good light and inspiring views on the 9th century priory and 12th century church to one side and the volcanic hills of Auvergne to the other.
Specialized tools and hammers surround a variety of forges, anvils, forming blocks and vices in the hot work area. Contemporary cutting and welding tools complement traditional blacksmithing equipment while 19th century tools are put back to work alongside tongs, punches, chisels and shaping aides made in the workshop.
A grinding and polishing area features the power and hand equipment required to give each creation its final shaping and surface texture.
