The Zambia project excites us all to the bone because not only do we get another great opportunity to do what we love so much, (Interior Design for those who were wondering) but we also get to travel to one of the most beautiful parts in the world: Lake Kariba. Now this is a place like none other. The Lake is man made and besides the popular tourist attraction it has become, it is also essential in terms of power supply in the area. The Lake is on the great Zambezi river—the 4th longest river in Africa.
Enough about the lake and the river. Let's turn to interior design…
This project brings it's own challenges. The fact that the premises was renovated not too long ago limited our clean canvas
and we had to work with some existing elements like tiles that will not be replaced.
In the bathrooms we kept most of the tile, which features a very strong pattern and we calmed that down with a solid light colored subway tile. The two looks amazing together. The hardware in the bathroom is modern, also with strong features and compliments the walls wonderfully.
Now, the kitchen design was another challenge. The first design had a wall removed to create an open plan space but in the end it was decided to keep the wall. We now have a separate cooking and food preparation area and the dining room just on the other side of the wall.
We love the green accent tiles as it brings some of the outdoor beauty of the lake inside. The furniture is modern, sleek and light colored and the art comes with a definite African vibe.
We love the newly created space.
Keep watching for more to come.
