The cost effective renovation & upgrade of an 80's recording studio into an audio college

So here is another job we completed last year for The Academy of Sound Engineering in Cape Town, changing a recording studio built in the 80's into a contemporary school of audio engineering. The difficulty with alterations & renovations is that the end product is built on the 'bones' of the building (see b&w photos) you start out with and that one doesn't always have the budget to remodel & change its outward appearance, to the extent one would like to (architecturally speaking).

We are, however, very pleased with the outcome, that was achieved with relatively modest means. Credit for this must also go to Keith Farquharson, the schools Cape Town director who was involved with all aspects of the design & build, Jacob van der Westhuizen, the acoustic consultant responsible for the design of the studios and of course the contractor Ervin Xherri of BM Construction, who built it all. Additional credits go to Julian & Ilaria of Paintiques for the mural & Charl Bothma for the metalwork. Hope you like it!
