With the client based in Canada; wereceived a project brief to design an office building for a property they own in Windhoek, Namibia.

The new office block was to be based on the row housing in San Francisco on Alamo Street (nicknamed Painted Ladies) as the client fell in love with the charm and details that these Victorian and Edwardian buildings are famous for, during one of his travels to San Francisco.

The design was done as one large building with the possibility to separate office space to accommodate a variety of letting requirements.

The interior space is open with the illusion of three separate buildings created on the exterior—each with their own design details and paint colours.

Once work started on this unique building, it not only captured the attention of the local community, but also the interest of the Japanese Embassy who were looking for a building to establish their Embassy in Namibia.

As the structure was still under construction the design was adapted to the Embassy’s requirements who now inhabit the building.
