The world has many wonders, but these treats are twice as sweet when they're right on your doorstep. Nothing beats discovering hidden gems that are just a short journey away—they inspire, amaze, and remind us that anything is possible when it comes to our homes.

This Singapore abode is a masterpiece of cosy yet functional interior design. Standing proud on a beach on the island of Sentosa, it fuses luxurious elements of contemporary design with modern eclecticism and tropical glamour. Most importantly, though, it is grounded with a humble sense of personality and fun. Let's take a closer look…

A divine living room

Our first stop is this pristine living space, which has been lovingly decked out with furniture and decoration from home and away. The walls are a blank canvas—plain, matte white—but the rest of the room is a riot of visual interest.

The colour palette sticks predominately to shades of grey. The buttersoft suede couch encircles half the room, while the two accent chairs complement the overall palette and complete the circle. Though monochrome reigns supreme, the room doesn't feel like it's lacking in colour—thanks, in part, to those stunning palm trees outside.

Soft grey and subtlety

A closer look at the seating area reveals just how much care and attention has been put into creating a contemporary eclectic space. The pain grey sofa and white walls ground the interior design scheme, leaving the hard work to the accent pieces.

Tonal grey patterns sit next to each other in harmony. Though the large ringed circles of the lampshade differ wildly from the baroque influenced cushions and the Oriental prints on the walls, nothing looks out of place. The coffee table, however, steals the show. Topped with cool glass, it is propped up by a knotted mass of varnished, sculpted wood, and topped off by a delicate orchid.

Palms in the breeze

The living room opens up into the expansive garden—a landscaped paradise of concrete and cushions shaded by verdant palm trees.

A small, tiled pool can be accessed straight through the French doors. From this vantage point, swimmers can survey the river leading directly to the sea, and wave at the luxurious yachts as they pass by.

A kitchen to envy

Just how stunning is this kitchen? A lengthy kitchen island, topped with dark grey marble, dominates the room, it's stark appearance mediated by the feminine pendant lamps hanging above.

An assortment of citrus fruits brightens the classic colour scheme, which relies on slate tones, white panelling and wood to achieve a crisp and contemporary vibe.

A mix and match children's room

The pattern clash continues in this children's bedroom, where messiness is ditched in favour of majesty. You won't find a toy out of place here—the room is impeccable!

Shots of light olive green have been injected into the white and grey colour scheme that characterises the rest of the home, and contrasts with the bright pink typography on that statement pillow. A room fit for a princess—we can't help but agree.

The magical master suite

The owner's personality really comes to light in this stunning master bedroom. Furniture is kept to a bare minimum, but the cosy bed is piled high with beige and grey blankets and pillows—perfect for long, lazy Sundays!

A minimalist trunk at the end of the bed holds a handy tray for espresso cups and books, and a large scale print adds a streak of quirkiness to this otherwise sophisticated boudoir.

The family staircase

Though the house might be a paradise of refinement and sophistication, don't make the mistake of thinking that this is the place where fun comes to die—far from it!

The family let loose on this blackboard wall, writing messages of love, creativity and silliness all the way up the staircase. It's a touching way to say goodbye to this beautiful house—it's clearly the home of this family's dreams.
