Designing a kid’s bedroom is both exciting and challenging! Every child has unique taste and requirements, which need to be taken into consideration while introducing the colours, designs and furnishing. The  interior architects at Space Polygon have however done a fantastic job in this Chennai home by creating a bright, spacious, functional and lively space for a brother and sister. Geet and Bhuvam didn’t want a typical pink and blue room, and they wished for a room that would feature their love for superheroes. Also, the room needed to have lots of storage options and ample space to play and practice dance or gymnastics. So, based on the children’s requirements, the interior architects came up with a 17 × 10 × 10 m room that is aesthetically pleasing, exclusive and cheerful.

View from above

This view from above reveals how two full-sized single beds have been comfortably accommodated in this  trendy kids’ room. There is a huge wardrobe to store clothes, shoes, games, linen and more. The study nook is compact yet practical, and there is ample room to play. The lemon green and white colour palette is chirpy, and the superhero-inspired bed sheets are fun.

Bright and natural

From this perspective, you can appreciate how the white and lemon green colour scheme infuses positivity and warmth in the room. The wall panels and false ceiling make use of wooden veneers for a natural look. The wall behind the beds impresses with a Scrabble-like design with floating shelves that hold toys.

A wardrobe with a difference

The stylish white wardrobe with grid pattern boasts of both female and male superheroes to cater to the wishes of the brother and sister. It has sliding doors to save on floor area. Note the chic pendant lamps hanging over the framed artworks on the wooden wall.

Unique wall idea

The contemporary wall behind the beds looks like a game of Scrabble, as mentioned before. If you observe, you will see how artfully the names of the brother and sister have been accommodated here. Some of the squares are illuminated, and the shelves in neon green pop out visually. We love how the drawer set between the beds complements the wall behind it.

Smart study nook

The use of blackboard wallpaper with scientific and mathematical formulas all over it lends this study space a unique vibe. The study table and chairs are sleek and trendy, while the overhead cabinet complements the wardrobe beautifully.

Thoughtful lighting

Since a kid’s room is incomplete without ample lighting, the interior architects have introduced pendant lights, ceiling lights, and cove lighting to keep the space bright and  comfortable. Task lights at the study station make concentrating easy.

Intelligent layout

From this angle, notice how the bedroom has been planned in a linear design. The beds come first, followed by the wardrobe and dressing unit and finally, the study station. It keeps the space fluid, functional and easy on the eyes.
