This striking interior design was lead by the team at Siobhan Loates Design. Upon completing her studies at Chelsea College of Art and Edinburgh University, Siobhan Loates went on to work at the renowned practices of Tessa Kennedy, Douglas Mackie and the Brahm Interior team. After stepping aside to have three children and moving to Gloucestershire, she returned to the workforce—this time to establish her own interior design practice in 2010.

Assuming an elegant and eclectic style, she draws a great deal of influence from her childhood, spent largely in Africa and the Middle East. Drawing on these different styles and influences, she mixes interesting pieces in a unique and thoughtful way.

An elegant sitting room

This sitting room is appointed with a feature mirror and side board. French doors open onto the balcony, flooding the space with an abundance of natural light that is bounced around the room by the white walls and large mirror. There is a meticulous attention to detail—everything is considered and composed.

Hallway drama

The beautiful hallway, complete with parquet flooring and a stunning fanlight, is fitted with mirrors along the entire length of the back wall. Jutting out from the mirrored surface, a marble table top is supported on one side by an elegant filigree base. The reflective qualities of the mirror make this narrow space feel expansive and bright.

White with golden hues

This living space is equally well appointed, demonstrating the same finesse that is characteristic of the entire design. The large carpet rug that has been incorporated adds a softness and a cosiness. The white canvas has been overlaid with warm golden and earthy hues. Vibrant feature wall

This space is infused with an unexpected splash of colour. The vibrant green wallpaper is patterned with bird and floral motifs that give the space a fresh and playful atmosphere. The cushions, sitting atop the armchairs, pick up the same green hues.

Marble bathroom

The bathroom is simple, refined, yet luxurious. Marble floors, marble walls, a marble vanity and a marble encased bath—not an inch of marble has been spared, except on the ceiling perhaps! The large mirror above the vanity makes the space feel larger than it is, while the lighting is thoughtfully placed to create deliberate effects. For more bathroom ideas, take a look here!

A glazed kitchen

This is, possibly, one of the most stunning and atmospheric spaces in the home. Glazed panels wrap up the walls to form a dramatic glazed roof. The kitchen cabinetry is all finished in a white gloss surface that is highly reflective—acting to further bounce the light around the room. The lush green garden infuses the space with colour and life, while the myriad of reflections creates an almost ethereal atmosphere. It is an absolute delight!
