Today we invite you to join us on this before and after tour which will show you how an old apartment is transformed to live up to its highest potential. The renovation project was led by architects from Transition Interior Design. Our experts managed to transform a small (390 square ft) old apartment into a spacious, modern and charming home. What looked like neglected home that was slowly becoming derelict was given a second chance and a new life when the design team rescued it. Be ready to be surprised by the magical transformation that can take place just with a change of materials and style.

We hope you will find some interesting ideas and refreshing inspiration for your home through this home renovation project. Please don't forget to leave us some feedback at the end. Now, let's have a look at this beautiful home shall we?

Before: a very sad bathroom

In this photo we see the old bathroom that did not have much space or joy. It had just enough space for the toilet and sink, and the dull colours used for the floor and wall tiles made the bathroom feel lifeless. This bathroom could really use a makeover. Curious to see how this bathroom changes after the renovation? Just wait until you see the rest of this miserable house first!

Before: a cramped kitchen

This is the old kitchen, a very small space for a fridge, oven, washing machine, and cooking stove. It's so crowded it's hard to imagine preparing a meal comfortably there. The heavy wooden furnishings create an even more confined space and, let's face it, it's a style that is more than a little old fashioned. Apart from furnishing it with a modern taste, one whole kitchen wall was demolished, opening up the space and making it feel more spacious.

Before: outdated furnishings

Pictured here we see an old wardrobe closet composed of wood with full-length mirrors as sliding doors. The design of the wardrobe is outdated and looks miserably old-fashioned. Although it is still in good condition and serves its purpose, it could use a fresh look.

Before: weird door-frames

Even before the renovation, the apartment was quite bright as it received sufficient natural light through its large windows. The white walls also remain white after the renovation, however so much more has been added to the space in terms of furnishings and decorations that it hardly looks recognizable after the transformation. Let's check out the apartment after renovation next.

After: effective design

The general idea of this reconstruction is to create a comfortable space with room for all without depriving us of modern aesthetics. Although the social areas are integrated, you can comfortably enjoy each area separately thanks to visible boundaries created with the furniture and design. Last but not least, the idea is to take advantage of natural lighting throughout the apartment.

After: retro bathroom

We can see how a total white bathroom may look simple but elegant, however the new floor tiles with its retro design and contrasting colours add a new spark of interest in this small bathroom. The details in white, silver and wood complete the look.

One of the most used resources for small spaces are the walls. In this case, the small top shelf is a success and the mirror also, as they are both indispensable elements in a bathroom, not only for functional purposes but for aesthetic values as well.

After: a clean design

Usually the first impression you want to give guests in your bathroom is how shiny and clean it is. This is more easily when you have bright white walls with a glossy finish and shiny white tiles to match. The silver details together with the glass elements also help to create a clean design.

After: cosy bedroom

This cosy bedroom gets most of its rustic appeal from the exposed brick wall, while the two hanging lamps with copper fixtures add an industrial style to the space. A full-length mirror and large windows ensure that the room has sufficient light. Overall, the new bedroom is modern, stylish, and feels very cosy.

After: integrated kitchen

An open social area integrated into the kitchen is of the greatest successes in this project. You can also see how more kitchen space seems to have been created, including an island that not only creates a more relaxed atmosphere but also a place to share meals.

The colour tones of the kitchen generally remained, but the change of aesthetics in furniture gives a fresher air. The visually simple lines generate a sense of harmony, while a splash of colour is added by the picture on the wall.

After: a cheerful disposition

From this other angle we can see how the transformation also affects the rest of the apartment. For example, the light is used more efficiently and social areas are more integrated. In the living room couch, pastel turquoise tones are complemented with bright colours, making the living area lively and cheerful.
