DIY décor with origami
- Origami paper (light cardboard)
- A small but sturdy tree branch
- Cotton thread
- Hammer and nails
The origami trend has grown in recent years and became a fantastic idea for home décor. They are small, cute and colourful and you can find many tutorials on YouTube. From complex to simple shapes, this form of Japanese art will give your home a creative flair. So, just how could you use origami in your home? Origami looks great on a shelf and empty corner of a window frame and lots more places in the home. Follow our step-by-step DIY origami 10-minute project guide.
Step 1: Creating the origami
Use paper that is durable but easy to fold. To copy our origami, simply follow the steps in this video
Step 2: Change up the colours
Use different colours and different shapes for this project. A minimum of 5 will do.
Step 3: Cut the top
Next we take the scissor and cut the top end off of our origami.
Step 4: Insert the string
We use some glue to attached the string to the origami
Step 5: Use a strong support base
For our DIY origami support base, we used a branch from a tree. Make sure that it's slightly curved, but also not too heavy. Use a nail to support the base to the wall.
Step 6: Use different length strings
Use a different length of string for each origami, as this will make it even more creative and fun to look at and creates variety.
Step 7: Origami decoration project completed
Voila! This is the completed project! Hang it in your bedroom, window frame, or anywhere suitable. Simply use your creativity and imagination.
